CONTINUING OUR WORK WITH JCIC
Enjoy Dinner and Help Raise Funds for our Immigrant Neighbors!
One World One Family is pleased to announce a fund-raising dinner to benefit Jackson County Immigrant Coalition (JCIC). Similar to a very popular event OWOF hosted in 2025, this dinner will take place on Thursday, September 10 at St. Paul’s UCC Church in Chelsea. Orders can be picked up for take-out from 5 – 7 pm. Those choosing to dine-in will be treated to a 7:00 pm screening of the movie Una Dia Normal (A Normal Day), a story of a recent experience with immigration difficulties in Detroit. The filmmaker and director, Mauricio Dominguez, will be present for discussion and to answer questions about the film. Members of JCIC will also be present to discuss their work.
The dinner will be provided by La Esquina, a prominent Mexican restaurant in Jackson. Their noted Tacos Doraditos and Enchiladas meals will be available to order for $20 per platter. Beverages will be available for those dining in.
PLEASE NOTE: Orders must be placed by Tuesday, September 8 at 8pm.
St. Paul’s UCC is located at 14600 Old US 12. The event will be on the lower level. Take-out patrons can drive into the lower parking lot and pull up to the lower door.
JCIC has helped immigrant neighbors since early 2025. Their services include: providing groceries and essential care items, transportation to medical and legal appointments, helping with medical supplies, medication and connecting to health professionals, legal assistance, emergency housing and other essential expenses.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Could you spare a few hours to help plate dinners for the fundraiser on Thurs, Sept 10? Let us know at owofchelsea@gmail.com
Thanks for your help!
WE ASKED, YOU ANSWERED: SURVEY RESULTS
Thanks to all of you who took a few minutes to take our interest survey! It is always helpful to know what is on your hearts and minds! While we continue to work with issues relating to immigration and are working with other partners to host a housing event yet this Fall, we are wondering if there would be an appetite for a book discussion or other gathering regarding voter’s rights or specific candidate issues. If you have an opinion or a recommendation (book, article, film or otherwise) we are all ears – especially if you have some expertise you’d like to share. Thank you! Email us at owofchelsea@gmail.com
