Last call for KNOW YOUR RIGHTS TRAINING!

OWOF and Grassroots Chelsea are co-hosting an immigrant rights training aimed at  informing businesses.   A leader from the Jackson County for Immigrants Coalition will conduct the training.  Trainees will be expected to form teams to approach area businesses to be sure they know the legal responses to being approached by ICE.

Let us know promptly if you are interested! owofchelsea@gmail.com

NO KINGS 3 – CHELSEA SHOWED UP!

Pierce Park was filled edge to edge and a long line of protesters lined Main Street from OLD US12 to the hospital entrance. OWOF had a table of resistance buttons and stickers and signed up new members for our newsletter.

It was an important day to support each other and to be visible. Speakers reminded us of the issues and that we as a privileged community have a responsibility to change. Mayor Henson described how critical adequate housing is. Rep Carrie Rheinigans and Senator Sue Shink defined our rights that are being trampled. Kelsey Cohen, a leader in the Grassroots movement, told the crowd that we are not alone, within our community and as part of the larger nation – over 3000 NO KINGS events took place in the US. But we can’t let this day be a performance; it has to be a catalyst and when the times get hard or scary, we cannot look away or run away. We cannot feed the system that oppresses so many.

Let’s make this event a launching pad, not a landing spot!
